Couple of days ago I sent out a tweet mentioning various products/services/startups I love and use regularly. Surprisingly, no one asked me why. And since I am a woman, I will still tell you the reason.
tl;dr version (my ppt skills suck, excuse the lame presentation):
Support is the new marketing from unitechy
Longer version:
Paytm:
I started using recharging my prepaid cell number from Paytm since I don’t remember when. I’ve used Paytm exclusively so much that I even track my usage pattern through the site. And to top it all, I’ve never once faced any issues with transaction (which is still a serious problem with online transactions). The one time I faced issue, I contacted Paytm support guys on Twitter and it was resolved within a minute. Literally.
PayUPaisa:
India is an entrepreneur country. Say what you want but I consider these kirana walas as entrepreneur and you’ll find them everywhere. I love that PayUPaisa is enabling these small time business guys to bring their shop online. That said, setting up a store is makkhan smooth on PayUPaisa. I set up Crevetes.com while having a kitkat, choti wali.
I always thought that anything that deals with bank must take shit loads of time and energy. That said, I wasn’t initially considering selling my stuff on PayUPaisa. It lacks a lot of things — can’t use customize domain, there are branding issues. But the simplicity with which I could set up thing and for no cost. Sometimes if you only few things but do it right might click with your clients.
Instamojo:
When these really smart guys launched a service where I could sell/give away anything, I kept thinking of what I could give away. If you know me, I am really a simple living kind of a person with not much to sell or give away. That was until I launched my newsletter (which btw you should subscribe to) and wanted to monetize it.
I DM’ed sengupta on whether I could use Instamojo to collect donations. At that time it didn’t allow users to collect donations. Only sell. Sengupta, instead called me and found a way to do it on the same day. Now they allow users to collect donations and since then have introduced ‘Pay What You Want’. I love how open they are to introduce new features.
This is the same with Wishberg team. They are constantly looking for new features to introduce. Wishberg team is truly pioneers of the idea ‘break things fast’. I keep a close eye on these guys because I believe that’s how things should be done.
Sourceasy:
This guy (indirectly) taught me how to get clients. Sometimes, your clients won’t be able to give you what you want. But if you understand the needs and provide service accordingly, the client will bring business only to you.
Classmatrix:
When people talk about education system needs to change, most of them concentrate on students and try to find a solution. Many forget that in schools students spend a lot of time with teachers and these are the people we need to empower – to help students to learn and educate.
Education is a really soft topic for me as I know it’s the only thing that will help this country progress. In August, when I was France I could see how much progressive the country is. I felt like crying because I know it is going to be very difficult for India to reach at that stage unless we educate each and every person in the country.
Smart Mumbaikar:
Couple of years ago, people used to love Mumbai — as it provided them with better job opportunities. This has lead to overpopulation – there are around 20 million people residing in Mumbai. Not so surprisingly this has crippled the facilities that this city can provide to its citizens – including traffic & pollution. Many just chose to crib about it (including me).
Smart Mumbaikar is planning to solve this by providing car/taxi/rickshaw pooling option for EVERYDAY commute. I hope a lot of Mumbaikars start using Smart Mumbaikar and help in reducing the traffic and pollution. This is a startup with which one can emotionally connect.
