Did you know that back in the early 90’s, there were countless players in the X86-compatible space? Intel, AMD, IBM, TI (TXN), Intersil (ISIL), ST-Micro (STM), Fujitsu, OKI, Siemens (SI), NexGen, NEC, Cyrix, and Via all developed X86 compatible processors.
Eventually, the strongest players survived, and the weaker ones either exited the business, went bankrupt, or were acquired.
