Life

This week brought an unexpected shift in a significant relationship. Someone who’s 45+ in my life has been throwing tantrums, but for the first time, I took a stand and refused to endure it. The result? They’re giving me the silent treatment. It’s uncomfortable, but it feels liberating to break this pattern.

My close friend just bought an apartment in my building, which has sparked some beautiful future dreams. Even though she doesn’t currently live in the country, I find myself imagining our retirement years – living close to her and my brother, creating our own little community.

The week held some delightful moments too. We hosted an International Coffee tasting session at Vardhman’s while Asha was away at the Coldplay concert in Dubai. Bean generously gave me his Aeropress go Filter box that I lost during my trip and V60 plastic. I’m particularly excited about switching from my ceramic V60 to the plastic one – sometimes the simplest changes bring the most joy.

Read

Books

I’m currently immersed in Before the coffee gets cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. It’s only my second fiction book this year, reflecting my new standard of reading only 4.5+ rated fiction. Life’s too short to spend time with books that don’t deeply resonate.

I’ve also started “Khooni Vaisakhi” by Navdeep Suri, a collection of translated poems from the Jallianwala bagh massacre originally written in Punjabi by Nanak Singh. The connection feels especially meaningful since I attended Suri’s reading session at BIC with Alysha and got my copy signed. Reading these firsthand accounts brings a different depth to my understanding than the history books ever did.

Notable Articles

The Dark Secrets Behind the Neil Gaiman Abuse Accusations came at an interesting time. I’d been wrestling with the art versus artist debate, but this settled it for me. These predators shouldn’t profit from our support – money is the message they’ll understand.

Origins of Wokeness by Paul Graham just made me laugh out loud. Sometimes that’s all there is to say.

Watched

I caught up with Season 2 of Hacks this week. It’s exactly what I needed – light, engaging, and thoroughly enjoyable. The kind of show that lets you unwind while still keeping you invested.

Side Projects

  1. BCBCBath PHP Conversion
  • Progress made: Currently stalled
  • Blockers encountered: Getting gid from Google spreadsheets has become a real challenge
  1. Crochet Projects
My pouch project has taken an unexpected turn – it’s quite disfigured at the moment. But I’m not giving up. Found a promising YouTube tutorial about fixing misshapen projects, so there’s hope for redemption.

Health Log

The past three weeks have been a strong streak of cycling, jump rope, and regular gym sessions. The challenge looms ahead though – I’m heading back home next week. While my parents’ new house has a gym, which is a silver lining, visiting my partner’s place remains the biggest hurdle for maintaining this routine.

Learned

My exploration of AI tools expanded this week. I now have subscriptions to both Claude and ChatGPT, which has led to an interesting discovery. While Claude excels at thinking tasks and coding challenges, ChatGPT has proven surprisingly more effective for certain types of analysis. It’s fascinating how different tools can complement each other in unexpected ways.
