Went to Goa for the second time this year from Nov 10-16. This time it was a workcation and not just vacation. I was in Goa last year on a workation as well, however, I was on a notice period back then and did not have to work that often last year. This year it was completely different.
I had concerns about Internet accessibility, expect for one incidence where we were at Artjuna for hangout and couldn’t get internet for the hell of my life.
This Goa trip turned out to be amazing food trip thanks to Rahul for the entire planning. We stayed at Bindaschokri’s TwitterBnB. The free stay allowed the budget to explore and indulge in some really great cuisines and drinks.
Here are places we visited and the food items I liked. We had more but I haven’t added the ones I did not like having or were even average.
Food: Bilahi Masor Tenga, Fiery Naga Chicken Wings (make sure you don’t let the sauce touch your lips), Assamese Fish Fry
Drinks: Red Lotus, Luit
Tip: Ask the chef to make a custom gin drink. He really has some skills.
Food: Ham Cheese Baguette Sandwich,
Drinks: Try fresh juice here
Tip: You get Bombay famous Subko coffee here. I am not a huge fan of Subko if you like drinking plain black coffee but sometimes it can be comfort to drink/eat something known when you’re in an alien territory.
They bake fresh breads. Recommend going in morning.
Food: Cheesecake biscoff , Classic Eclair , Cinnamon roll
Tip: It’s a little cafe with good desserts. What I like about the desserts here is that they aren’t absurdly sweet. One thing I hate about the desserts you get in Bangalore is that they are wayyy too sweet, which is fine when you need them to be 😉 but it really kills the joy to enjoy them
If you’re in Goa you have to visit this place!
Food: Chicken chimichuri , Prawns toast, Steamed Muscles
Drinks: Smoked GnT. I have to say this is one of best GnT I’ve ever had. Period. So much so that I’ve been trying to check how I can make it back home.
This turned out to be surprising find. We were with Manik and wanted to go out for dinner and randomly walked into this place.
Food: Squid butter garlic , Chonak rechaedo
Drinks: Rahul managed to order Negroni 😏
Order anything here. Everything is amazing!
This is a good hangout place but everything here including food and drinks sucks. I am not sure why we were here.
This trip also marked my luck to finally taste the one pot pork dish by Manik. He wanted to spice it up more, thankfully he didn’t have the chillies.
We also visited Barefoot Goa
for an Urdu session, which was good but I wasn’t in the mood to learn anything new! I’m part of a WhatsApp broadcast now and I’m enjoying the lafz that she shares once in a while.
I, alone, visited the Feni Museum and absolutely loved it. It’s just Rs 300 and the guide I feel absolutely loves his job. The tour was supposed to be 45mins but it took 1.5hrs and even then I decided I didn’t want to hangout further. They end the tour with Feni cocktails. Some of them were interesting!
This time I ended up taking advantage of the 5L liquor allowance. I bought some Local Indian Gin like Sativa, Pomori, Terry Sent Me, Tamras, and Fireball Whiskey (Bindaschokri’s fav) and Baileys. Since then have managed to host a Gin night 🙂
