# Lori's Chocolate Midnight Cake

## Ingredients

- 450g (1lb) thin filo (phyllo) pastry (for homemade)
- 200ml (7fl oz) sunflower oil, plus extra for greasing
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 150g (5oz) caster (superfine) sugar
- Finely grated zest of 3 large oranges
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp freshly grated nutmeg
- 280g (10oz) Greek-style (strained) yogurt (thick and creamy)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- Ground cinnamon, to finish

### Syrup

- 200g (7oz) caster (superfine) sugar
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 6 cloves
- ½ orange with skin, cut into smaller pieces
- 4 tbsp honey (ideally orange blossom)
- 250ml (9fl oz) fresh orange juice
