Flock - the browser on way

Files under tech | 2 Comments

Guys check out the new open source Browser

flock

Though its not a new browser, the project was started way back in 1996. But the flock dot com url was abandoned for some unknown reason. The domain was registered for bout 10 years then and now the project seems to be updated.

I think its almost same as firefox as it uses the same extentions as that of firefox, so i guess you can transfer firefox extentions in this(not tested as i dont use ff). though comparing with opera browser its speed seems to be damn slow. so may be i will stick with opera for long.

The main pluse point with this browser is it has integration with various bookmarks , photo sharing Etc. sites. Also you can add your blog to it, that is whenever you feel like writing an article in your blog just click on new blog post ,write it down and you are done. I had no problem using it with my wordpress.

Its not that eye catching but worth a try..Its a new browser for WEB2.0

Web messengers

Files under tech | 7 Comments

Recently a news caught my eye.. yahoo designing there own online web messenger means you can use it through your web browser!
i had used web or say WAP messenger on my phone way back in 2002 or so when my messenger software didn’t seem to work. but later on i just abandoned it cause its speed was damn slow for my hutch gprs connection. For now 2-3 years i havent used online web messengers. But now it seems to be a trend when http://meebo.com launched there online messenger service integrating various accounts in it. Then thanks to http://ebuddy.com that came up with a similar idea with an bonus for people using it through their mobile phones.
Google as known for long has already integrated it with thir gmail and also came up with http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/client to make it easier. This google talkgadget needs an flash player to make it working though but its pretty fast as compared to other online messengers. All of which i have tested yahoo seemed to be slowest maybe cause it is in its BETA.
But i hardly assume any one would go for this leaving behind the pleasure for chatting with pals on normal IM softwares.
but then it comes handy for people who cant install such softwares ,like people working in offices where these messengers are banned.
